Todai-ji Temple


"Tōdai-ji Temple (Japanese: 東大寺)" is a Buddhist temple complex and it was founded by Emperor Shōmu (聖武天皇 (Shōmu Tennō), 701 - 756) at the Nara period of the first half of the 8th century. There is "Great Buddha Hall (大仏殿, Daibutsu-den)" that is the world's largest wooden building in this temple, and "Buddha Vairocana (盧舎那仏 or 奈良の大仏, Rushanabutsu or Nara-no-daibustu)" whose this is the world's largest bronze statue is enshrined in that. Todai-ji Temple was registered in World Heritage as "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara" in 1998.
The buildings of Todaiji Temple has "Great Buddha Hall", "Great Southern Gate (南大門, Nandai-mon)", "Hokke-do Hall (popularly known as Sangatsu-do, 法華堂 (三月堂))", "Nigatsu-dō Hall (二月堂)", "Kaizan-dō Hall (開山堂)", "Belfry (鐘楼, Shōrō", "Tegai-mon Gate (転害門)", "Honbo-Kyoko (本坊経庫)", "Central Gate (中門, Chu-mon)", "Zanmai-do Hall (popularly known as Shigatsu-do, 三昧堂 (四月堂))", "Large bath house (大湯屋, Oyuya)".
The public transportation facility to Todai-ji Temple are "Kintetsu railway (近鉄, Kintetsu)" or "Nara Kotsu Bus (奈良交通バス)". Todai-ji Temple is from the Kintetsu Nara Station to about 30 minutes on foot, from the Daibustuden Kasuga-taisha mae Bus Stop to about 10 minutes on foot.
